The Guild of Blue Wizards will publicly play test and pump up the upcomming Kickstarter for our premier big-box game GHOST SHIP at the 2017 San Diego KingdomCon games convention.
SD KingdomCon 2017 will have a dedicated UNPUB (unpublished board games) event as a part of the convention.
GHOST SHIP will have a table at this Unpub event, from 2pm to 5pm on Friday Apr 28. Also, after 8pm, all games and tables are open, so we may well have even more games of GHOST SHIP into the night.
Easily by the beginning of April, Jennifer will have the board translated into Illustrator, and I will have had at least one 24x24" full color professional looking version ready to go.
Cards will be more difficult, but I have an idea that will suffice for a playtest: custom business card printers, such as Staples (where I used to work, trust me, this will work, esp on a high grade glossy paper). The advantage is, they can do as few of each card as I like. Art won't be on these temporary cards, but they will be professionally printed, and work fine for prototype playtest games.
As for the Eye Candy...I can also have a nice poster-sized version of the GHOST SHIP box art printed up (also at Staples).
So, this will be good. A playtest table at pro gaming convention's unpublished games event, a real pro-looking game board, a real pro-looking banner/poster to lure the eyes in, and perfectly workable playing cards.
This will be fun, informative, and great publicity, all at once.
Like a really good Creo Imaginem spell cast over an entire city...
Using a Ritual, of course, backed up by a good rook of Vim.
