That's because I never intended to BE a blogger.
Today the world tries to convince you that --if you want to be a successful self-pub-- you HAVE to be a successful blogger.
But all I ever wanted to do was write novels, like some old-school Longfellow, James, Thoreau, or King, I wanted to disappear into some wilderness, all alone, and just write.
The social media revolution is a two-sided sword. It allows us to be authors without the hoops and hypocrisy of Big Publishing...but the downside is all the time we spend trying to publicize our own books...time we should be spending writing the next one.
I am a dedicated believer that writers should be spending their valuable time writing books, not blogs, tweets, and Facebook ads... And yet I haven't written a word EXCEPT tweets and Facebook ads since publishing my first book. And now this blog entry.
It is said that Queen Elizabeth pronounced that she would bathe once a month...whether she needed it or not! Thus inspired, I often tell my friends that I check my e-mail once a month...whether I need to or not. Much the same way I seem to post in this space once a year.
OK, I'll try to do slightly better than that.
